Biggi Junior School is based in Pakwach. Established in 2022, we have grown to over 200 registered pupils, offering a full education from Nursery through Primary 7 in an environment built on discipline, care, and community.
Our teachers and leadership work as one team to keep classrooms full of curiosity, and to make sure that a family's circumstances never decide whether a child gets to learn. Through fundraising and bursary support, we continue extending that promise to more children each year.
I, Hellen Nyilak, was born and raised deep in the village, where life was hard enough that we sometimes had nothing to eat. The nearest school was at least five miles away, and with no means of transport, we walked there on foot — often missing class altogether when the rains made the roads impassable.
My parents could not afford my school fees, so they paid in cassava and maize instead. I sold mangoes and firewood, and worked in other people's gardens, just to raise enough money for my own school fees and help support my siblings.
I grew up hearing the elders say "somu ber" — education is good — and I made myself a promise: when I grew up, I would open a school for every child whose family could not afford to pay fees.
In 2022, I kept that promise. Biggi Junior School opened its doors in Marama Lower (now Ndaba Village), Marama Parish, Panyimur Sub-County, Jonam County, Pakwach District. Guided by our motto, "Education for a Brighter Future," we set out to make sure every family in this community could send their children to school — believing that education today means a better future for everyone, here and beyond.
Most families in this area once depended on fishing on Lake Albert. Since the government's fishing ban on this part of the lake, combined with the region's hot, dry climate, many have been left with almost no way to earn a living.
Alongside our academic curriculum, we equip our pupils with practical skills — including book-making, cookery, and soap-making — to give them tools for the future, whatever path they choose.
I invite you to join us. Lend a hand, support a child, and help build a brighter future for this community.
From sports pitches to reading corners, Biggi Junior School gives pupils space to grow physically, socially, and creatively. Explore some of the facilities and activities that make up everyday life here.

School fees cover tuition, meals, and learning materials for each term. Detailed termly fee structures by class are shared directly with parents at enrolment and can be requested through the Contacts section below.
Every term, some of our brightest pupils risk missing class simply because their families cannot afford tuition or scholastic materials. That's why we run a bursary programme, supported by donors and well-wishers, so that no child's circumstances decide whether they get to learn.

Hellen Nyilak founded Biggi Junior School with a simple conviction: every child in Pakwach deserves a strong start in life, regardless of their family's means. Under her leadership, the school has grown into a nurturing home for learners from baby class through primary seven.
Hellen continues to guide the school's vision, working closely with teachers, parents, and partners to ensure every child is fed, taught, and cared for. She is especially passionate about fundraising for tuition, scholastic materials, and bursaries, and warmly welcomes donors to join this journey.
As Head Teacher, Wanadi Melki oversees daily life and learning at Biggi Junior School, ensuring every classroom from baby class to primary seven runs smoothly and that pupils and staff are supported to do their best work.
Wanadi works closely with teachers to maintain high standards of teaching and welfare, and is a strong advocate for the school's bursary and fundraising programs, knowing how access to basic materials can keep a child in school.
Ocakwun Fred serves as Dean of Studies, responsible for shaping and monitoring the academic program across all classes, working closely with teachers to plan curriculum delivery and track pupil performance.
Fred is committed to raising academic standards while ensuring no child falls behind for lack of resources, and believes strongly in community partnerships and donor support to keep every learner progressing.
Pikisa Kenneth serves as Head Prefect, representing fellow pupils and helping keep order, discipline, and school spirit alive both in and out of the classroom, setting a strong example in punctuality and respect.
Kenneth helps bridge the gap between pupils and staff, ensuring student concerns are heard — a leadership style that reflects the values Biggi hopes to instill in every child.
Yikparwoth Fortunate proudly serves as Head Girl, guiding fellow girl pupils with confidence and warmth, often the first to encourage younger girls to stay focused on their studies and believe in what they can achieve.
Fortunate's leadership is a reminder of why continued support for tuition and scholastic materials matters — every girl she mentors deserves the same chance to learn, lead, and dream big.
Mungudit Elvis holds the position of Head Boy, looked up to by fellow pupils for his discipline, leadership, and dedication to his studies, playing an active role in maintaining order around the school.
Elvis represents the promise of every child at Biggi Junior School — a promise that depends on continued donor support to keep classrooms stocked, tuition covered, and doors open for pupils like him.
